Ingredients:

  • 1/2 liter of whole milk.
  • 250 ml. Orange juice.
  • 4 eggs.
  • 120 gr. of sugar.
  • 20 gr. cornstarch.
  • The skin of an orange.

Preparation of the custard with orange:

The first step is to wash and peel the orange, if it is possible to use the perfect juice, otherwise the skin serves us. We put the milk to boil, together with the vanilla and the skin, leaving aside three or four tablespoons that we will use later. Infuse the milk for a period of 20 minutes over low heat, strain the preparation and wait for it to cool.

We separate the whites from the yolks of eggs. We use only the yolks and we mix them together with the sugar until they are completely dissolved. Now we add the cornstarch to the milk that we set aside at the beginning, and then mix it with the yolks and sugar.

We take the milk that we had infused, we heat it in a saucepan over low heat and we are gradually incorporating the rest of the previous elements. When we begin to notice that the mixture thickens, we add the juice.

From this moment on you have to stir the mixture constantly so it does not stick. In about 15 minutes it should be able to adhere well to a spoon. Just then it is time to pour the preparation over the final containers, first passing it through a strainer.

We can decorate our custard by putting a few thin slices of the fruit or a little chopped skin, carefully arranging it on top of each of the containers.
