This was the main entrance that gave access to the ancient city and when we see it, we will notice the great importance it had. This gate is part of the defensive system of the city, created with bridges and gates that could be closed before the arrival of the enemy. The interior door in the Gothic style is the oldest, while the exterior is in the Renaissance style and features the figure of Saint Blaise. You have to cross the stone bridge and the drawbridge that is over the moat in which orange trees have been planted. It is a place that is usually passed through to enter the historic center and that also has one of the three entrances to walk through the walls.

These great walls protected the city and today they are one of its great tourist attractions. It has five fortresses, 16 bastions and more than one hundred cannons, being an incredible defensive system for the city. Three of its five fortresses are incorporated into the walls and some have a terrace to enjoy views of the city.
