Ringworm on the Nails

Ringworm is a fungal infection. Not only do they affect the nails, they can also affect the skin, scalp, feet and other parts of the body.

Ringworm of the nails, also called tinea unguium, is one of the most common types of ringworm that exist. The most common is that produced in the toenails, but it can also occur in the fingernails. It is characterized by the fact that the nails begin to become thicker than normal, turn yellow and discolored, and even deform and break easily.

But what causes this disease? Ringworm is caused by different fungi that are spread. It should be noted that it is a highly contagious disease, both among animals and among humans.

The causes of this disease are:

  • Bad hygiene habits and very poor body drying
  • Use public showers and toilets
  • Living in places with extremely humid and hot climates
  • Sharing towels with infected people.
  • Weak immune system caused by disease or medicine.
  • Malnutrition

Although I always advise you that before any change in your nails it is important to visit a doctor, you can try some of the natural home remedies that I bring you below.

One of the remedies is to rub pieces of raw papaya on the nails affected by ringworm. You should leave the papaya for at least half an hour. This procedure should be repeated daily for best results.

You can also apply peppermint juice on the infected area, if you do not get this plant, you can try pure tea tree oil. Neither of these remedies will cause side effects.
