Bollines: traditional fried sweets

The traditional fried sweets They always draw our attention Bezzia. The last ones to catch our eye were these Bollines and we couldn't resist incorporating them into our recipe book. If you still enjoy some days of celebration, don't you think it's a good time to prepare them?

The recipe is not complicated; there are few ingredients on the list and it is very easy to follow their "step by step". This traditional dessert is therefore a great way to spend an entertaining afternoon getting your hands dirty in the kitchen. The reward will come when these tender buns temper.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • A pinch of salt
  • 63 g. of sugar.
  • The zest of a lemon.
  • 60 ml. cream.
  • Half sachet of baking powder.
  • 118 g. flour (approximately)
  • Sugar to coat

Step by step

  1. Beat the eggs with the pinch of salt. Then add the sugar and lemon zest and beat again until you get a creamy mixture.
  2. Incorporate the cream lightly whipped and beat the whole until the cream is integrated.

  1. Add the flour mixed with yeast and knead until you get a dough that does not stick to your hands. The amount of flour is indicative; add it little by little from the 110 g.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until a rectangle is half a centimeter thick. With a pizza cutter, cut strips of approximately 5cm. long and 2cm. Wide. There will be between 20 and 30 buns.

  1. Fry the strips in very hot mild olive oil in batches. Let them brown on one side and turn them to achieve a homogeneous browning.
  2. Bathe in sugar while they are still hot and reserve until serving time.
