A long list of filmmakers, performers, scriptwriters and producers have already confirmed their presence at the 70th San Sebastián Festival, which will be held from September 16 to 24. An appointment to which we will remain very attentive in Bezzia to share with you everything that happens.
Juliette Binoche, Penelope Cruz, Ricardo Darín, Vicky Krieps, Diane Kruger, Noémie Merlant, Liam Neeson, Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, Hannah Schygulla, Sebastián Lelio, Ulrich Seidl, Hong Sangsoo, Wang Chao, Olivia Wilde and the one who will be the president of the jury, Glenn Close will be some of those who walk the red carpet of the festival. Official section
In the official section that Modelo 77 / Prison 77, by Alberto Rodríguez, will inaugurate out of competition, will compete for the Golden Shell 17 films that sign names like Manuel Abramovich, Christophe Honoré, Sebastián Lelio, Diego Lerman, Marco Martins, Laura Mora, Frelle Petersen or Hong Sangsoo.
Four Spanish titles stand out among those competing for the main prize: The Rite of Spring by Fernando Franco, Suro by Mikel Guerrera, Wild Sunflowers by Jaime Rosales and La maternal by Pilar Palomero.
In addition, the Official Section will host the debuts of Genki Kawamura and Marian Mathias and will present outside the competition two special screenings: La (très) grande évasion / Tax Me If You Can, a French production by Yannick Kergoat and El sostre groc (The Yellow Roof), the non-fiction by Isabel Coixet.
The jury
A actress Glenn Close who was the 2011 Donostia Award and who will now chair the Official Jury, will be accompanied by the writer Rosa Montero, the Danish director and screenwriter Tea Lindeburg, the Argentine producer Matías Mosteirín, the French casting director and filmmaker Antoinette Boulat, the filmmaker and visual artist Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese and the Icelandic director and screenwriter Hlynur Pálmason.
Donostia Awards
In this edition of the San Sebastian Festival they will be Juliette Binoche and David Cronenberg those who will collect the Donostia Awards that recognize the extraordinary contribution to the world of cinema of great figures who will remain forever in its history.
The Canadian director and screenwriter will receive the distinction during a gala on September 21 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, after which 'Crimes of the Future', his new feature film, will be screened. French actress Juliette Binoche, for her part, will do so at a ceremony that will include the screening of Fire, a film directed by Claire Denis with which she won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the last Berlin Film Festival .

The San Sebastian Festival will have a very tight schedule this year. 17 unpublished titles in Spain that have been critically acclaimed and/or awarded at other international festivals will compete for the City of Donostia / San Sebastián Audience Award. in the Pearl section. These works will be formed by Juan Diego Botto, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Louis Garrel, Mia Hansen-Løve, Oliver Hermanus, Hirokazu Koreeda, Marie Kreutzer, Isaki Lacuesta, Santiago Mitre, Brett Morgen, Cristian Mungiu, Ruben Östlund , François Ozon, Oriol Paulo, Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Olivia Wilde.
The debuts of Mariano Biasin, Fabián Hernández, Juan Pablo González, Carolina Markowicz, Manuela Martelli, Valentina Maurel and Andrés Ramírez Pulido join the works of Ana Cristina Barragán, Natalia Beristain, Pavel Giroud, Patricio Guzmán and Carlos Lechuga to complete the Latin Horizons section.
In the New Directors section, which rewards the first or second feature films of its filmmakers, 15 feature films will participate, while in Zabaltegi Tabakalera, the most open competitive section of the Festival, 24 will participate. Some of these feature films are award-winning works or works programmed in Berlin, Cannes, Jeonju, Sundance and Venice, but there will also be room for world premieres such as Amigas en un camino de campo by Santiago Loza
And although the Made in Spain section is not competitive, it will offer a sample of the Spanish films of the year. A total of thirteen feature films, four of which will be world premieres: The Color of the Sky, Between Mountains, The Critic and Tequila. Sex, drugs and rock and roll.
