New York Fashion Week

NYFW: Zimmermann, Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs and Boss

La Fashion Week in New York has closed its doors after eight intense days in which we have had the opportunity to see on the catwalk the new proposals of Carolina Herrera, Prabal Gurung, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tom Ford, Tibi and Oscar de la Renta, among many others.

Each of the designers has brought richness to a catwalk that has revealed to us what will be the trends of the next spring-summer season 2019. A season that will bet on intense colours and in which geometric prints will play a major role.

Full color

Color has been one of the stars of New York Fashion Week. There are many firms that have risked and bet on vibrant colors turning the catwalk into a happy and optimistic space. Lime green, pink, purple, yellow and orange are just some of the colors used by Prabal Gurung, who inspired by Nepal, his native land, and the Tharu people, presented the most colorful collection.

This explosion of color on the catwalk was also repeated in party collections. Brandon Maxwell featured daring minidresses and pink and red combinations, while Pamela Rowland opted for maxi dresses and trouser and jacket sets. We will soon see each other on the red carpet.

Floral and geometric prints

It is inevitable to associate flowers with spring and in the same way, Floral prints with the spring-summer collections. During New York Fashion Week there are not a few firms that have opted for this print: Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Scada, Anna Sui ... And while Kate Spade has chosen pink and yellow to color this print, Escada and Anna Sui have preferred to use black as a base in her compositions.

Geometric prints have also had a great presence on the catwalk. The most popular have undoubtedly been, plaid and stripes. And with pictures we are not referring only to the classic tartan print, to which Alexander Wang and Monse have wanted to be faithful, on the catwalk we have also seen other proposals from Escada, Kate Spade or Zimmermann.

Tory Burch and Phillip Lim have added stripes to their respective collections, both urban and laid-back. Oscar de la Renta has also done it, although the garments with this pattern have not been the most striking of his collection. As for moles, they have been key in Escada's collection. An impregnated collection of 'retro' airs that Bezzia  It has made us nostalgic.

Urban sobriety

The counterpoint to color has been put by those firms that have opted for the black and white binomial like Tom Ford, Dennis Basso and Proenza Schouler. Tom Ford was in charge of inaugurating the catwalk and he did so with sophisticated masculine-inspired looks that featured satin blazers, crocodile-effect jackets and sexy lingerie skirts.

More relaxed were the proposals that firms such as Tibi, Noon by Noor and Boss presented at New York Fashion Week. We liked to see how Tibi reinvented the style of the "working girl" and how Noon by Noor came off again comfort and freshness with each of your garments. The Boss “unisex” collection and its color palette, dominated by pale pink and burgundy, did not go unnoticed either.

Romanticism

Ulla Johnson, Jonathan Simkhai and Rodarte have been some of those in charge of putting the romantic note to New York Fashion Week. The historic Marble Cemetery in the East Village became the setting for Rodarte's fable. A tulle fable which has brought the Mulleavy sisters back to New York.

Carolina Herrera

There is a reason to give Carolina Herrera special treatment. Carolina Herrera presented her latest collection as creative director of the brand at New York Fashion Week. A collection with which he has paid tribute to his 37 years at the helm.
