Scotland is a magical land, a place that falls in love with everyone who visits it. In this northern part of the United Kingdom we find ancient castles on the edge of impressive lakes, mountain areas, glacial valleys and endless reasons to visit it. Scotland has some cities like Edinburgh or Glasgow which are very important. But of course it is a place where you also have to go on excursions to see places like the Highlands or Loch Ness.
Edinburgh
This is the capital of Scotland and is a city that is definitely worth visiting. Walking down the Royal Mile enjoying the atmosphere and the shops until you reach the famous Castle on top of the hill is quite an experience. But also in this city we can climb the elevation of Arthurs Hill, with impressive views of the city. Calton Hill is another of the places to see and we also have streets like Princes Street in the new area, or Victoria Street.
Glasgow
Glasgow is the other must-see city in Scotland. In this city we can stop in places like the St Mungo's Cathedral with beautiful Gothic architecture. Near this cathedral is the Necropolis, a beautiful Victorian cemetery. Nor should you miss the Kelvingrove Museum or the visit to the old university. It is an interesting city that takes place like the botanical garden and even a mural route.
Isle of Skye
This is undoubtedly one of the most impressive natural places in Scotland. This place is to enjoy amazing landscapes such as the Fairy Pools, beautiful waterfalls of the Brittle River. Nor can we miss Dunvegan with its castle and the Talisker distillery, the oldest on the island. Another of its essentials is the rock formation Old Man of Storr.
Inverness
Inverness is a small town by the River Ness and close to the famous Loch Ness, so it is sure to be a place we will stop at. This city offers us a little downtown with places like the Victorian Market. In the Inverness Museum we can see the history of the Highlands and we also have to see its castle.
Lake Ness
This is a totally mandatory stop in Scotland. Going to Loch Ness and enjoying its views by stopping to look for its famous monster is something that we cannot miss. But also in this area we can visit Urquhart Castle, a strategic place disputed for centuries and that today is in ruins but that still shows us the importance of this point on the lake.
Eilean Donan Castle
We have seen this castle in hundreds of photos, as it has become one of the symbols of Scotland. It is situated in the Highlands and it is reached by a stone bridge that connects with the island. This castle was rebuilt after being bombed in the XNUMXth century and today it is a place that receives hundreds of visits, as it has not lost any of its charm.
Dunnottar Castle
If we are going to see magical places in Scotland, we not only have to visit Eilean Donan Castle, but Dunnottar Castle as well. Although there are ruins of this castle, what makes it so interesting is the place where it is located, in a point off the coast and elevated, surrounded by cliffs. We can see the incredible North Sea and go down to the nearby beach. A landscape that undoubtedly shows us the most authentic Scotland.
