In the market there is a wide variety of conditioners that promise miracles for our hair, but what they do not tell us is that some have ingredients that are harmful to health.
The common conditioners they often contain chemicals and synthetic fragrances that are not good for the body or hair. Most do not have the natural oils that can hydrate the hair fiber and instead contain ingredients such as dimethicone, which coats the hair without actually hydrating it.
Organic conditioners have a high percentage of natural oils that can penetrate the hair and provide real benefits.
For example, applying pure argan oil to dry hair works wonders, as does coconut oil or a coconut argan blend.
Organic hair conditioner recipe
- 3 cups of water
- 144 grams of coconut oil
- Water 3 cups
- Coconut oil, 144 grams
- Behentrimonium Chloride, 45 grams
- Cetyl alcohol, 25 grams
- Glycerin, 20 grams
- Citric acid, 5 grams
- Hydrolyzed wheat protein, 5 grams
- Hydrolyzed oat proteins, 5 grams
- Panthenol, 9 grams
- Essential oil for flavoring
Melt the coconut oil, behentrimonium chloride, and cetyl alcohol in a water bath. Once ready, pour the mixture into the blender and process well, (the behentrimonium chloride will not melt completely, but it does mix).
Pour in some warm water and mix again. Add the remaining ingredients and flavorings.
It is important to note that hydrolyzed proteins and panthenol are not necessary, but they do make a better quality product.
You can replace part of the coconut oil with other oils such as sunflower, flax, or almond.
