El Bezzia Today we prepare a classic legume dish: lentils with potatoes and vegetables. A recipe that can be overwhelming with its list of ingredients but is very simple to prepare. A very complete dish that is part of our weekly menu.

Onion, pepper, carrot, leek ... the ingredient list is long but not rigid. You can do without any ingredient in the sauce, if you do not have it on hand, and replace it with some other vegetable of your liking. It is a recipe that everyone can personalize with what they like or need to take advantage of. Do you dare to prepare it?

Ingredients

  • 1/2 large onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1/2 red pepper
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Carrots 2
  • 2 leeks
  • 2 ripe tomatoes
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 cup of lentils
  • 1 hoja de laurel
  • Olive oil
  • Sal Island
  • Pepper
  • Paprika

Step by step

  1. Prepare all the ingredients. Finely chop the onion, bell pepper, carrot and leek. Peel the tomatoes and dice them. Do the same with the potato.

  1. Put a base of olive oil in a saucepan and when it is hot, add the onion and pepper. Sauté for a few minutes until the onion changes color.
  2. Then add the garlic, the carrot and the leek and sauté for 10 more minutes.
  3. Add the chopped tomato and stir. Then let it cook until it starts to fall apart.

Lentils with potato and vegetables

  1. Incorporate the potatoes and half a teaspoon of sweet paprika. Stir for approximately 1 minute.
  2. Then add the bay leaf and lentils and cover them with water. When the water begins to boil, fry them, adding a little more water to break the boil.
  3. As soon as it boils again, cook for 25 minutes or until soft.
