Home remedies for teeth whitening

Teeth whitening

On many occasions, either by genetics, by smoking a lot or by eating foods that darken the enamel such as coffee or licorice, we get undesirable yellow stains on our teeth that are very difficult to remove with a normal and routine cleaning. It is then that we have to resort to a deep cleaning and whitening in a dental clinic. Although the prices of these services have been declining as competition in the dental sector has increased and thanks also to dental insurance, many people still cannot afford these types of services.

Whether you are one of them or if you want to do this type of whitening from your homeWithout having to travel and saving you money, here we leave you a series of home remedies to whiten your teeth. Each of them has its mode of application, so check very well how to do it and with what specific products to carry it out.

"Throw oil" to whiten teeth

The "throwing oil" is known above all in Latin America since for centuries it has been done in some indigenous cultures there.

What you need to carry out this whitening home remedy is organic vegetable oil. The only thing you will have to do is give small swish of it, stir it well all over the inside of your mouth, trying to get it to penetrate the inside of your teeth, which is where more food residues tend to stay.

You must hold the oil in your mouth for as many minutes as you can, the more the better. And once you spit out the oil, you should rinse your mouth with plenty of water.

According to those who have already practiced this whitening home remedy, they say that at first it costs a bit because the oil, being thick, gives a little "repelús" but that with its practice you get used to it. This remedy being 100% natural, nothing happens if you practice it almost daily. Your teeth will look whiter and will not be damaged at all.

Bicarbonate of soda

This is the best-known home remedy for teeth whitening, but also the one we have to be most careful with since bicarbonate can damage our enamel if we use it excessively (it can eliminate the natural shine of our teeth).

Is a remedy fully abrasiveIt literally kills both stains and bacteria, but like we said earlier, it can also destroy enamel. So that this does not happen, we recommend that you put it into practice as maximum 2 times a month, no more.

Procedure for its application

  1. In a small bowl, mix a teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of lemon (fresh, fresh lemon).
  2. Stir both ingredients.
  3. Clean your teeth beforehand with a clean makeup remover pad. Remove excess saliva and plaque with it.
  4. Apply the baking soda and lemon mixture with a soft brush using gentle, loosely motions.
  5. Let it sit for a minute and rinse your mouth with plenty of water. Do not exceed one minute of application.

Orange peels

This remedy is also very effective but you must do it at least for two weeks, every day, in order to see results. How? Well, with the white part of the orange peels. These contain an element called "limonene" which is very effective against stains.

Procedure for its application

  1. Peel an orange, making sure that you leave the white part of it on the peel.
  2. Save the fruit to eat later.
  3. Cut three or four pieces of white part and put them directly on your teeth, rub them with them for 2 or 3 minutes.
  4. It is not necessary to lighten the teeth after this.

If you repeat this same process every day, for about two weeks, your teeth will look progressively whiter. To notice the difference, you can take a photo of them before and after, to compare, under the same lighting.
