Today we prepare a vegan main course that you can enjoy alone or with, for example, rice. Some green beans with tofu and spicy sauce, slightly spicy or with a spicy aftertaste, very simple to prepare that will fill your kitchen with aromas.

The key to this green bean recipe is in its sauce. A tomato sauce with an intense flavor and a spicy aftertaste thanks to the paprika. An aftertaste that you can intensify playing with the amount of hot paprika or incorporating half a teaspoon of any hot sauce.

This is a dish that is very easy to eat and is also very easy to prepare. Cook the beans, sauté the tofu and prepare the sauce will be the three steps to create a very complete and perfect dish for lunch or dinner at any time of the year.

Ingredients

  • 250 g. green beans
  • 200 g. firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the sauce

  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed

  • 1 / 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Step by step

  1. Heat water in a pot and when it starts to boil cook the green beans 6-8 minutes or until tender but firm. Then, cool them under running cold water, drain and reserve.
  2. Dice the tofu of bite, dry them well and sauté them with a pinch of salt in very hot oil until they are well browned on all sides. Then, remove them from the heat and reserve.
  3. To prepare the sauce, first mix the garlic with all the spices in a bowl and then fry the mixture in a pan (it can be the same as the tofu) with a tablespoon of oil for a minute.

  1. Then add the tomato, the sugar, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a pinch of salt and 170 ml of water. Mix everything well, bring to a boil and cook for two minutes, stirring often until the sauce begins to thicken.
  2. Then, incorporate the green beans and let them cook for one more minute during which the sauce will continue to thicken.
  3. Then out of the fire add the tofu and mix.
  4. Serve the green beans with hot tofu and hot sauce.
