Do you know the usefulness of konjac sponges?

Konjac sponges

They say that on the issues of fashion and beauty it's all made up; Well, reality and progress in terms of fabrics, new structures in textile design, technological advances related to skin health, healthier pigments and creams, etc., make us see that this is not really the case.

Fashions are changing and everything is constantly evolving. Yes, it is true, that many things are reinvented, of course! But there are many other new and better than those of yesteryear that fulfill their function in a much more effective way. Of one of these things, referring to the theme of beauty and specifically of the facial we come to talk to you today. Have you heard of the konjac sponges? Do you know what they are used for? Today we come to tell you about this not so novel product and we tell you what it is for.

Konjac sponges

These sponges with that weird name are of Asian origin, and are used for one of the most important steps in our daily routine in the care of our skin: facial cleansing.

They are so soft sponges that they adapt and they are suitable for any type of skin (dry, oily, sensitive, mature, etc.) and for a totally daily use.

The idea of using this sponge for beauty treatments has been exported by Japan, China or Korea, where they have been used for years in fields such as medicine or cooking. Its porous appearance, which looks like a stone (when dry) and a scouring pad (when wet) is due to the fact that it is not an artificially made sponge but comes from the root of a plant of the same name. This sponge is composed of 97% water and is rich in minerals.

How is it used in our facial cleansing?

When the Kojac sponge is completely dry it becomes hard as a stone, but as soon as we moisten it a little with water, it is a normal sponge again. It is at that moment when we can use it moistened with a little water to clean our face or we can use it with other types of products (homemade scrub, foam gel, cleansing milk, etc.). But its use is the same as a normal sponge: it will consist of dragging it through our skin making small circles and insisting a little more on the most problematic areas such as chin, forehead or nose.

Once we have insisted with it on our face, we will clean it with water until there is no residue or soap left on it. One tip so that the sponge does not dry out completely or harden over time is to wrap it in a wet wipe with a minimum of retained water,… This will keep it moist and in perfect condition until the next day for use.
