Who wants a piece of this cake? The two-color cake that we encourage you to prepare today is a dense cake. Is not a cake with an airy friend and fluffy, no, it's a sponge cake with a dense crumb. Perfect to complete a snack accompanied by a coffee or take you to work to enjoy mid-morning.

For create that bi-color pattern, the most striking feature of this cake is part of a base that is later divided into two. You will not have to work twice, just divide the dough and customize each of the parts with those ingredients that will define its flavor and color. Am I persuading you to try it?

Ingredients

  • 120g. dates
  • 80g. raisins
  • 100g. warm water
  • 3 eggs
  • 125g. melted butter
  • 195g. whole spelled flour

For the chocolate mass

  • 15g. pure cocoa
  • 20g. almond drink
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped

For the vanilla dough

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 14 chopped hazelnuts

Step by step

  1. Soak the dates and the raisins in the 100 grams of water during 10 minutes. Then grind to get the date paste.

  1. Mix with the eggs, melted butter and spelled flour in a bowl until smooth. You can use the mixer first and once you have incorporated most of the flour use a spatula to finish mixing.
  2. Then transfer half of the dough to another bowl. Add the cocoa, the vegetable drink and the chopped chocolate to one of the masses.
  3. Now add to the other half the essence of vanilla and the chopped hazelnuts.

  1. Then place the dough with chocolate in the bottom of a lined or greased mold and pour the vanilla and hazelnut mass over it.
  2. Bake at 180ºC in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes or until done.
  3. To finish, take it out of the oven and let it warm for 10 minutes before unmold it on a wire rack to finish cooling.
