5 daily habits that lower your mood

If, as a general rule, sometimes it is difficult for us to get our strength even under the stones to be able to cope with the day to day and its sometimes exhausting routine, we add the extra of doing certain things, that without realizing it, lower our mood making us feel more and more tired or depressed, turn off and let's go!

  • The sedentary lifestyle: Either because you have an office job, or because you are a student and you must spend much of your time sitting down, sedentary lifestyle will progressively decrease your mood. But this has an easy solution: if you cannot stop sitting because it is your obligation and it is part of your work or life as a student, you can get up every so often and take a 4 or 5 minute break every hour or hour and a half. Get up, walk, look for water, go to the bathroom, etc ... Only with this gesture you will be breaking that routine and avoiding this bad habit. We also recommend doing one hour of daily exercise if you spend the rest of the day sitting down. Walk, do 'running', swimming, whatever you like the most. Practicing a sport or several a week, helps to avoid that bad daily habit.
  • Poor diet: Eating processed food with a high sugar content makes our body work more and more slowly, so we will have the inner sensation of going as in "slow motion" and in a lethargic way. Try to eat well: vegetables, low-fat meats, fish, fruits, etc. Especially if you are also complying with the first bad habit.

  • Loneliness: Although we all need our daily moments of solitude, we are also social beings by nature and we need the company of loved ones and friends. Spending too much time each day in solitude makes us increasingly sullen, more elusive, and less sociable. So we recommend that you have both your moments of solitude and your moments of company. In this, as in almost everything, the good balance of the scale has more positive and better results.

  • Going to bed very late and sleeping little: Our body, just as it needs activity to feel more and more active (although it sounds contradictory), it also needs to comply with a few hours a day of rest and sleep on a regular basis. If we delay our bedtime and have to get up early to study or work, we will be taking hours of sleep from our body and our mind. Do it on time because we have no choice because they are not important, but do not let this become a habit. In adults, the hours of sleep should be between 7 or 8 hours a day (although it also varies a lot from the person).
  • Using hormonal contraceptives: If you have recently started taking hormonal contraceptives and have noticed a significant drop in your mood, you should discuss this with your doctor or regular family doctor. These hormonal contraceptives (some) have been studied to affect certain women, making them more prone to depression.

As you can see, there can be several factors that decrease our physical and mental strength on a daily basis, but you also see that most of them, if not all, are in our power to change and modify them for other much healthier routines.
