The pandemic has had something to do with it, although probably the main reason for the rise of these motorhome getaways is the search for forms of leisure that are committed to a greater freedom of movement and closer contact with nature.

Basque Country, from Hondarribia to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

The Basque Country has forests and cliffs that take on a special beauty in autumn. You may start your route in Hondarribia, a beautiful town located on the border with France with a well-preserved walled old town and charming colored houses.

From Hondarribia you can travel along the coast to San Sebastian, an elegant city where there are to which you should dedicate at least one day. You cannot leave the city without visiting the Old Town, going to the port and giving yourself the pleasure of eating in one of its restaurants, walking along the bay to the Peine del Viento and going up to Igueldo.

Once you have enjoyed the city drive half an hour to Zumaia and contemplate its steep cliffs before taking the wheel again to reach Lekeitio, a fishing village With a lot of charm. The trip ends with a visit to Bermeo and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a location that needs no introduction.

Cadiz, from Cadiz to Tarifa

Traveling to Cádiz in autumn, when the maximum temperatures are between 23º and 26ºC, is an excellent choice. You can start the route in its capital, Cádiz, and from there go to Conil de la Frontera, a beautiful coastal town known for its coves and golden sand beaches.

The last stop on the route is Tarifa, a surfing destination. Perfect for surfing but also to enjoy a few days strolling through narrow streets, relaxing on its beaches and enjoying the sunsets on one of its many terraces.

The town of Cedeira, a fishing village, becomes a perfect starting point for a route with beautiful cliffs and viewpoints. Just 34 kilometers away from the town is the other fishing village, Ferrol, gateway to Fragas do Eume, a natural paradise.

After letting yourself be carried away by that enchanted search, taking the road you will arrive in A Coruña in less than an hour, a city with a lot to see in which, however, you could have problems finding a motorhome parking. If so, you can always visit it and drive another hour to Laxe, where the Praia dos Cristais and everything you need to rest in the motorhome.

Rest because the next day the Costa da Morte will overwhelm you. Buño, recognized for its pottery tradition; Malpica, beyond, with its hanging houses on the rocks; and Cabo de San Adrián, are stops that you should not give up. Nor should you miss Camariñas, the cradle of bobbin lace, or Vimianzo and its beautiful castle.

The route will then take you to Muxia, a beautiful fishing village that we recommend you walk until you reach its Sanctuary nestled in the rocks and finally to Finisterre, a place that never lacks visitors.

Naranjo de Bulnes is one of the most visited national parks. It is worth doing it, taking one of its main routes, but you have to be prepared for it. An hour and a half away, already in Cantabria, you will find another unavoidable attraction: the cable car of Fuente Dé. This is located in the charming region of Liébana, where you can not miss Potes and the Hermida Gorge located in Liébana.

A little over an hour away you will find yourself in Castilla y León, where you can visit the Valdeón Valley, one of the steepest in Spain and very popular because the Ruta del Cares is found there.
