Today we prepare in Bezzia fried donuts, a traditional sweet with which many homes will sweeten Easter. Fried donuts with sweet wine that you can also cook in the oven, if you want to do without all the oil that frying implies.

Although donuts are normally flavored with anise, we have preferred to do it with a sweet wine, specifically with one of appellation of origin Pedro Ximenez. But you don't need to use this one; you can use any other sweet wine that you like.

Making these donuts does not imply any difficulty, but it will keep you entertained for a while if, like us, you decide to make them fried. Because you will have to fry the donuts in batches to avoid fluctuations in oil temperature. Do you prefer to make them in the oven? Ingredients

  • 560-600 g. flour
  • 15 g. chemical yeast
  • 5 eggs
  • 130 g. sugar
  • 50 g. olive oil
  • 25 g. sweet wine
  • 8 g. Salt
  • Olive oil for frying

Step by step

  1. Are you going to bake them? Then heat it to 240º to have it ready.
  2. Mix 560 g. Of flour with the baking powder and salt and sift.
  3. In a bowl beat the eggs, sugar, olive oil and sweet wine until the mixture is fluffy and white.
  4. Then add the mixture of flour, yeast and salt little by little and mix until you get a homogeneous dough. Begin by beating gently and finish by mixing with your hands on a floured countertop. The goal is to achieve a mass that barely sticks to the fingers. If it still sticks add a little more flour.

Donut dough

  1. Line the cookie sheet with greaseproof paper.
  2. Weigh small portions of dough of 32 g. Shape them into a ball, then cut a hole in the middle and mold into a donut shape. Keep in mind that they will puff up when you fry or bake them, so you will have to make them thin and with a generous center hole.

Shape the donuts

  1. Are you going to bake them? As you shape them, place them on the tray and paint each donut, if you want to achieve a donut with a more golden color, with egg. Then bake 12 minutes or until golden brown in the lower part of the oven with air or at maximum temperature.
  2. Are you going to fry them? Put a generous amount of oil in a saucepan; donuts should bathe in it. Heat the oil and fry the donuts in groups of 2 or 3. Put them in the oil and when you see that they begin to swell and are already golden on one side, turn them over. Take them out when they are golden brown.
  3. After making them, remove the fried donuts on absorbent paper (if you have fried them) and then Let cool on a rack.
