Any time of the year is good to visit the natural enclaves that we propose today, but these they acquire a special magic during the fall. Either by the color that the leaves of the trees acquire or by how their torrents of water grow, October and November are presented as the best months for a getaway or excursion bound for these places. But what are they?

Castañar Tiemblo

The layout of El Castañar de el Tiemblo this place allows you to explore and know one of the most beautiful and unique forests from the Valle del Alberche and Tierra de Pinares regions of Castilla y León. Located just 90 kilometers from Madrid, it becomes a great alternative for an excursion. So much so that in some years restrictions have been implemented in order to avoid oversaturation in the months of October and November.

Out of season, the color of this natural enclave may not be so striking but it is still a place to disconnect from the city. You can find around this place different routes with which to enjoy alone or with the family, however, the chestnut grove of El Tiemblo is the most popular. It is a one 4,4 kilometer circular route that begins in the recreational area El Regajo and goes towards the centennial chestnut tree «El abuelo», a monumental centennial chestnut tree, more than 500 years old. The path is almost flat and is classified as easy, so it is ideal for traveling with children or people with little mobility.

The Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park is a protected natural area of ​​Castilla y León. It covers an area of ​​more than 10.000 hectares between the provinces of Burgos and Soria and stands out for its spectacular landscapes sculpted over time by the waters of the Lobos River, the beautiful Templar hermitage of San Bartolomé, and its important colony of griffon vultures.

In the natural park there are different well-marked trails that allow you to know its different landscapes and ecosystems. The most accessible and familiar is the walk to the hermitage of San Bartolomé. From the Valdecea car park there are about 1000 meters to the esplanade of the hermitage, and to make this route you have two options. You can follow the River Path, which involves overcoming some small difficulty such as crossing the river over stepping stones, or continuing along the forest track, a walk that can be done even with sandals and baby strollers.

You also have Longer routes that run through the Canyon in its entirety. None presents great difficulties beyond the need to overcome a steep climb or cross the Chico River, which is normally dry but can be an obstacle in the rainy season. As in shades of natural enclaves, first consulting the conditions with the corresponding tourist information center is key to avoid surprises.

Composed of more than forty volcanic cones and a score of lava flows, this park has a great natural value. It is located in the Garrotxa region, in Girona, its orography, soil and climate provide it with a varied vegetation, often exuberant, with holm oak, oak and beech forests of exceptional landscape value.

It is one of the largest natural enclaves of all those we propose today. It has 25 pedestrian itineraries of different length and difficulty that pass through the most interesting places in the Natural Park. Within the park you can also visit the hermitage inside the Santa Margarita volcano, the Coscat volcano museum space or the old town of Sant Pau. You will need a weekend to appreciate the whole.

The Martos olive grove is located in Jaén, in the municipality of the same name that, sheltered by its Rock, provides them with an optimal microclimate and very fertile soil. The more than 20.000 hectares of its municipal area are conquered by the monoculture of the olive grove and, especially, by the scenic beauty that its majestic centenary olive trees.

The route of the centenary olive trees covers an area of ​​84 hectares, with 5.394 trees as a whole, some of them, true living sculptures. More than 60% of these are older than 200 years, although oral tradition has shown that the olive trees of the Place of the Llano de Motril they are more than half a century old.

The enclave is located just over a kilometer from the Marteño town center, next to the road that connects Martos with Santiago de Calatrava (J-213). At kilometer 1,3 you will find the first indication of the Centennial Olive Trees and, as soon as you pass some agrarian buildings, you will find the second indication.

Salto del Nervión

On the border between Burgos and the Basque Country is the highest waterfall on the peninsula: the Nervión waterfall. This great waterfall of 270 meters of altitude located in the Monte de Santiago protected area, is a spectacle of nature that we cannot always enjoy.

The beauty of the Salto del Nervión lies in the water but only for a total of two months a year can we contemplate it in this way. When running through a karst terrain, it does not always have water since it seeps and flows in the lower part of the Delica canyon.
